La principale caract\u00e9ristique de ce type de moteur est la disposition parall\u00e8le des axes des pistons dans un tambour de cylindre autour de l&#8217;axe de rotation. Les pistons prennent appui sur un plan faisant un angle avec l&#8217;axe de rotation du tambour du cylindre, ce qui cr\u00e9e leur course. Il existe deux conceptions principales, le plateau cyclique et les moteurs \u00e0 axe pression est fournie au moteur. En cons\u00e9quence, les pistons effectuent un mouvement de levage. Celui-ci est converti en un mouvement de rotation par le joint de piston sur la bride d&#8217;entra\u00eenement. Le cylindre est entra\u00een\u00e9 par les pistons et un couple de sortie est g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 au niveau de l&#8217;arbre de sortie. L&#8217;huile hydraulique qui sort retourne dans le syst\u00e8me hydraulique.<\/p>\n<p>Comme il s&#8217;agit d&#8217;un moteur \u00e0 pistons axiaux \u00e0 cylindr\u00e9e constante, l&#8217;angle de pivotement est sp\u00e9cifi\u00e9 et donc fixe. Dans le cas d&#8217;un moteur r\u00e9glable, cet angle peut \u00eatre ajust\u00e9 dans certaines limites. La modification de l&#8217;angle de pivotement entra\u00eene une course de piston diff\u00e9rente et donc une cylindr\u00e9e r\u00e9glable. Ils s&#8217;appuient sur un disque inclin\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Dans cette conception \u00e9galement, le fluide sous pression est introduit \u00e0 l&#8217;entr\u00e9e du tambour de piston. Les pistons effectuent un mouvement de levage et de rotation, emportant avec eux le cylindre, qui fait ensuite tourner l&#8217;arbre de sortie en raison de l&#8217;engrenage.
